Laura E. Allee Tharp

Mrs. Laura E Tharp, 85, Fillmore, died Thursday at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. She was born on Oct. 13, 1894 in Putnam County, the daughter of Scott and Ida B. (Masten) Allee. The deceased was married to Roy Tharp. Her husband preceded her in death on April 1, 1931.

Mrs. Tharp worked in various restaurants in the Greencastle area until her retirement. She was also the champion pie baker for Putnam County several years ago.

Mrs. Tharp was a member of the Deer Creek Primitive Baptist Church

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Effie Wright, Fillmore; two sons Woody Tharp, Coatesville, and Cassell (Tom) Tharp, Fillmore; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tharp was preceded in death by two sons, Royal and Elmer Tharp, a brother Raymond Allee, and an infant sister.

Services are scheduled at 2 p. m. Sunday from Whitaker-Bittles Funeral Home in Greencastle. Burial will follow at Deer Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call 5-9 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home.
